Groups berate FG over response to Obasanjo’s statement. Prominent organisations on Thursday took a swipe at the Federal Government over its response to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Groups berate FG over response to Obasanjo’s statement
The organisations, in separate interviews said while the Federal Government explained its efforts at reviving the economy, it failed to address other national issues raised by the former President.
For instance, Obasanjo had, in his special press statement on Tuesday, accused Buhari of nepotism.
He also faulted the President over his handling of herdsmen and farmers clashes, saying they were being “wittingly or unwittingly allowed to turn sour and messy.”
“It is no credit to the Federal Government that the herdsmen rampage continues with careless abandon and without finding an effective solution to it,” the ex-President had said.
Obasanjo had further said the failure of the President to keep his cabinet in check amounted to corruption.
He added that Buhari’s “poor understanding of the dynamics of internal politics” had cost the nation, its unity.
Groups, including the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, Afenifere and National Council of Tiv Youths, noted that the government did not address many failures of the Buhari administration.
Afenifere described the government’s reaction as hollow and banal, insisting that it did not address issues of lopsided appointments, nepotism, clannishness in the Presidency and other allegations raised by Obasanjo.
